I would now like to offer my flamenco metronome, which has been available as a computer program (app) for 22 years, in the form of videos. Thirty mp4 clips at different speeds offer the opportunity to practice the ternary and binary flamenco time signatures (compás). The modes in the 12s start with 12, 1, or 8. Further modes in the 6s, 3s and 4s, i.e. 6/8, 3/4 and 4/4 time round off the package.
I have been selling my Flamenco Metronome software since 1999. In order to be constantly up-to-date for all platforms (OSX, Win, iOS), a large amount of programming work is required. I don't feel like doing that anymore - especially since there are now enough cheap or free apps and web-oriented applications. But since all these apps neglect the visual aspect of the flamenco clock, which is important to me, I now came up with the idea of the videos. There are five videos with 50, 72, 120, 163 and 200 bpm (beats per minute) for all ternary and binary modes. Of course, videos can be played faster or slower with third-party players, but if the tempo is reduced or increased by +/- 25 - 30%, the natural beat tone is uncomfortably alienated. I deliberately avoided an annoying beep or click. So to play a Soleá por Bulerías at a tempo of 96bpm, I take the 12-start-on-12 clip and turn the tempo in my player down to 80%. The VCL media player or the video player from Elmedia enable this adjustment, as well as other functions such as loop, EQ, etc. And the best thing is - compatibility with all devices and operating systems. Mp4 videos play everywhere.
